it's all about kids!

really! it's really all about kids... many of you may have noticed that my only "free" day these days is sunday. sometimes, all invites overlap that i so disappointingly have to beg off.

take for instance what happened just this past sunday. i had an invitation to filipina actress ruffa gutierrez' birthday party at the cbs studios and to toni gonzaga's concert in anahaeim but i had to give up both because i already said yes to the baptism of my good friends louie and lito's second child in pasadena and a reception dinner in alhambra. i skipped the church ceremony and went straight to dinner - lol. it was fun. i met with old friends and we had a good time packing on extra calories!

if it wasn't for someone who mentioned that i seem to be going to a lot of kiddie parties, i wouldn't have noticed that, yes, indeed, i have been spending the past couple of sundays going to birthdays and baptisms. is that what turning 33 does to you? you try to channel the so-called fountain of youth? lol...

my aunt lita and my niece, my cousin jerome's daughter, jewell. she celebrated her first birthday a couple of weeks back... isn't she pretty?

but of course, my sister will not forgive me if i don' t include my favorite of favorites! here's a picture taken in may in boracay with my mom (yep, that's her - sexy and all, and she's 52!!!) and and my pretty and smart (she sings abc and tomorrow, tomorrow to me on the phone. she also "reads" her story books to me!) niece christelle! she's only two and showing real smart traits! you have to forgive me, i am her uncle and this is my blog. hahaha....

patricia javier: celebrity mom of the year

i am extremely happy for my friend genesis (aka patricia javier). pardon the cliche but she seems to be on a roll. hers is a "when it rains, it pours" case - if you know what i mean...

since she revived her showbiz career last november, when she was launched as part of the all-female group called the asian dolls http://www.asiandollsusa.com/index.html, her star has re-ignited and she has been dazzling her fans once again like she never stepped out of the limelight at all. she did a successful performance tour with the group last winter & spring all over california.

last month, she placed 3rd in the mrs. asia-usa pageant and copped two other major awards. she also had solo concert performances at patrick's cafe in glendale and at musikahan bar in bellflower.

to top it all, this month, she will receive the celebrity mom of the year award from the celebrity chronicle during its 11th annual celebrity chronicle achievement awards to be held at the mgm banquet hall in glendale. she joins master showman german "kuya germs" moreno, gospel singer becca godinez, musical director jet montelibano, and mr. wowowee himself, willy revillame among other awardees.

her citation reads in part "This special award is made in recognition of your recent achievement at the Mrs. Asia - USA pageant and for being a model wife and mom".

patricia is happily married to noted san diego chiropractor robert walcher III and is a doting mom to cute and adorable robert douglas walcher IV (see how lovely they look in picture!)

jonas brother engaged!

as if the world has not had enough of crying already.

when michael jackson's untimely death started hitting home, fans and non-fans alike couldn't help but shed a tear or two for the fallen king of pop. and i didn't realise until today that just this past week, hollywood saw five deaths! ed mc mahon, who was johnny carson's sidekick and who also popularized the ubiquitous intro "heeeere's johnny", died monday last week. farrah fawcett and michael died two days later. sunday, the world was greeted with the news of popular tv pitchman billy mays (he popularized the oft-repeated catchphrase "but wait, there's more!") dying in his sleep. today, another hollywood icon, albeit four generations my senior, has joined our creator. karl malden, who is famous for his supporting parts during hollywood's golden years, was 97. God bless his soul.

and now there's another reason for the world to weep.and this time it will be those teenage girls who will be mostly affected - i guess. but i could be wrong since i don't know the exact numbers of cougar moms out there lurking, you know, wink, wink! lol.

girls, kevin jonas, the 21-year old older brother of the famous trio is engaged! no date for the wedding has been set but, nevertheless, this news is surely going to send shockwaves all across teenage-dom. if i were you, i would avoid the malls these days... lol

in other news... a regular reader alerted me today of a star (no correct that, couple of stars is more like it) sighting at the century plaza mall in century city. ruffa gutierrez and john lloyd cruz was said to have been seen holding hands while entering the panda express outlet in the said mall and both were wearing havaiannas!? lol

and here's a news items whose veracity i have yet to confirm and thus will remain blind. a singer-actor apparently was so drunk the night before they were supposed to have a show and was supposedly the cause of his absence from the said show. los angeles offers one of the best night life in the world - that is, if you know where to go. now, where could have this actor gone? but first, is this story true? probably not. but then...
